Students pledge to end bullying


TOGETHER. MORGAN STURDIVANT IS LIVE IN BIDDEFORD. GOOD MORNING. THEY’LL BE WALKING PRETTY SOON HERE. AS THE STUDENTS ARRIVE THEY’VE GOT A MORNING SCHEDULED WITH EVENTS ALL ABOUT BULLYING AND PREVENTING BULLYING. IT IS SOMETHING THE COMMUNITY IS REALLY TAKING NOTICE AND SOMEBODY IN THE COMMUNITY HAS TAKEN NOTICE, THE MAYOR HERE. GOOD MORNING. GOOD MORNING. TRYING TO WAKE UP. YOU’RE DOING GREAT. MAYOR, LET’S TALK ABOUT THE INITIATIVE THIS SCHOOL IS TAKING BY PLEDGING TOGETHER TO STOP BULLYING. I THINK IT’S REALLY IMPORTANT THAT THE SCHOOL DOES THAT TYPE OF THEY THINK. BECAUSE AS WE ALL KNOW, BULLYING HAS BEEN PART OF SCHOOLS FOR A LONG, LONG TIME. BUT WITH THE COMING OF SOCIAL MEDIA, IT’S BECOME MORE INSIPID AND MORE IN YOUR FACE AND SOMETIMES EVEN NASTIER. SO HAVING THIS STAFF BE INVOLVED, I THINK IT’S JUST REALLY IMPORTANT. WHAT DO YOU THINK IT SAYS ABOUT THE CHANGING TIMES, YOU KNOW, WITH BULLYING AND WITH PREVENTING IT? WELL, I THINK IT’S IMPORTANT FOR EVERYBODY TO REALIZE THAT IT’S TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND THAT THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN POSSIBLY CURB IT IS TO HAVE DISCUSSION AND PEOPLE INVOLVED AND TALKING ABOUT IT AND HAVING THIS WALK THIS MORNING, I MEAN IT’S SYMBOLIC BECAUSE WHAT IT’S SAYING IS, ARE GIVING THE KIDS AN OPPORTUNITY TO SAY, HEY, IT’S OKAY TO TALK ABOUT IT AND GIVING THEM THE TOOLS NECESSARY TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
